5/16/13 - New Products! KartLift's new Skid Plate Kit and Euro Kart Stand are in stock at Comet!
5/7/13 - There was a lot of excitement leading up to the inaugural United States Pro Kart Series event at Mooresville Motorplex. This would be the first event ever for USPKS as well as the first major karting event at the recently constructed MMX track and the Comet Racing Engines team was looking to make its mark on both.
Saturday started out strong with Derek Dignan and Ashley Rogero securing the front row in the hotly contested Leopard Pro qualifying both with Comet Racing Engine Leopards. In fact, 5 of the top 10 karts in Pro qualifying were Comet Leopards.
After two rounds of heat races it was time for the Finals. Mark Fineis was at the point multiple times in the Yamaha Rookie Final and crossed the line in second place by only .063 seconds after a great duel for the win followed by James Lynch, both with Comet Yamaha's.
The Yamaha Senior main event seen Indiana drivers Camden Speth and Andrew Burton fill out the podium in 4th and 5th with their Comet Yamaha's, Billy Lewis had a top 5 run going on the Eagle kart before an on track incident ended his day.
USPKS seen a number of top Junior Sportsman drivers move up to the Junior ranks for the USPKS season. Zach Holden proved that he is ready to make the move up with a dominate drive in Yamaha Junior with an impressive 3.775 second advantage at the checkered with his Comet Racing Engines Yamaha.
After qualifying 2nd and two top five runs in the heats, Luke Fineis was a definite contender for his first National level victory, leading early Luke moved into second and worked with the leader to help keep the pack behind him. Luke made a move for the win coming to line only missing victory by .082 of a second! Garrett Moran would cross the line in 9th with Gabriel Zellner in 10th all with Comet Yamaha's.
Chuck Tate had a strong run in the Leopard Masters event finishing second with his Comet Leopard, missing fast time in the race by .010 of a second.
A new class for 2013 is the Leopard Semi-Pro for Junior aged drivers and up. After strong runs in the heat races Gresham Wagner, Dustin Stross and Chandler Horton were all quick enough to challenge for the win. After a dry event things got interesting as light drizzle began to fall right before the start of the Semi-Pro Final. Stross made the most of the conditions, winning the Final with his Comet Leopard, Wagner completed the podium with a 5th, Horton was 8th.
The final race of the day was Leopard Pro which was ran in wet conditions. Despite sweeping the front row in qualifying, Comet Racing Engine drivers had a tough go in the heats with on track contact hurting their results. With the rain coming down hard, it was a matter of who hit the set up and who could stay out of trouble for the 25 lap final. After the spray had settled Mike Giessen on the iKart finished in 4th, and Ashley Rogero would come from deep in the pack to finish a hard fought 8th.
Sunday was all rain, all day. Puddles became lakes and streams became rivers.
Mark Fineis led the way with the pole in Yamaha Rookie. Mark wasn't done there with the Rainmeister sweeping both heats and taking the final win by over 10 seconds for his first National victory with his Comet Yamaha!
In Yamaha Cadet Simon Sikes made a daring last lap pass for third place in the Final with Garrett Moran taking the final step of the podium in fifth. Luke Fineis had two strong heat finishes but contact on the first lap of the Final would send him to the back with a lot of ground to make up in only 10 laps.
Taking the win on Saturday in Yamaha Junior, Zach Holden had an uphill fight in Junior on Sunday. Spending the heats getting the handling of his kart to his liking in the rain, Zach moved through the field to finish 4th in the Final.
After a tough Saturday that seen Billy Lewis almost end up upside down, Billy was on a mission in the final, moving his way up steadily in the race to finish third on the Eagle with Comet Yamaha. Cameron Spek had a fine drive in the rainy Final to finish 5th.
Gresham Wagner had the speed but not the luck in the Leopard Semi-Pro final when contact at the start sent the outside front row starter to the back on the first lap. Saturday winner Dustin Stross took the point before moving back to second. At the checkered Stross crossed the line in 2nd, Wagner moved his way back up to 4th and Chandler Horton was 7th.
The final race of the weekend was the Leopard Pro class. After a frustrating day for Comet Leopard racers on Saturday, Sunday, despite the rain and clouds, was looking quite a bit brighter. Jake Donald with a heat win and a second started on pole for the Final. Jake set the early pace but Mike Giessen on the iKart was in hot pursuit. On lap 8 Giessen had closed up to Jake's rear bumper and made his move for the lead. Jake hung tough to Giessen but couldn't make up any ground in the closing few laps and Giessen crossed the line in first to secure iKart's first National win with Jake Donald in second completing the Comet Leopard sweep of the top two spots. Colton Ramsey and Ashley Rogero were 9th and 10th.
It was a fun and successful weekend for Comet Racing Engines with many poles, wins and podiums. We can't do it without our hard working customers and we thank you all! Brandon Jenkins summed up the event, "It was a great weekend, we had victories in Yamaha Rookie and Junior, as well as Leopard Semi-Pro and Leopard Pro. I think that really says a lot about the depth of our engine program. Small carb, big carb, restricted header and pro, our drivers were fast in everything."
Comet Racing Engines is gearing up for more National races with WKA Manufacturers Cup at New Castle Motorsports Park May 17th-19th and USPKS at NCMP June 7th-9th. No matter what chassis you run, Comet Racing Engines is always here to give you the best engines in the business.
4/22/13 - Congratulations to Jimmy Simpson on his pole run and race win at the 58th running of the Purdue Grand Prix with his Comet Racing Engines KT100 pipe engine. Click here for the race recap.
4/12/13 - Comet Racing Engines made the trek from Indianapolis to Kershaw South Carolina for the second WKA Manufacturers Cup race of the year. After a cold and snowy winter the team was excited to head south for better weather and great racing!
Derek Dignan ended the 2012 season on a high note picking up his first WKA National win in his final race weekend as a junior driver. Typically it takes a half season or so to get your footing in the senior ranks but Derek wasted no time securing the pole in TaG 1 and an outside pole in Parilla Senior on his Arrow X2 with Comet Racing Engines Leopard. Derek proved that his qualifying wasn't a lucky run by winning the Tag 1 Final by 7 seconds over second place and rounding out the day with another victory in Parilla Senior! Jake Donald was 3rd on his Arrow X2 with Comet Leopard and Mason Chelootz was 5th on his Comet Leopard.
Sunday would see Jake Donald in 3rd in Parilla Senior after starting mid-pack in the final. Jake caught the lead pack but a broken seat strut at mid race distance slowed his pace. Jesus Rios on his iKart with Comet Leopard would pick up fastest race lap. Dignan was 3rd in the TaG 2 final and Jacob Donald 8th. It was a great weekend for Comet Racing Engines in the TaG Senior classes with 50% of the wins.
In the sportsman classes Zach Holden claimed pole in Yamaha Sportsman 1 with his Comet KT100. Zach also crossed the line first in Cadet Final 2 with a Comet K80 but a questionable call by race officials after the race seen Zach move back in the finishing order. Zach was second in Cadet Final 1, Giovanni Bromante was 2nd in Cadet Final 2, Devin Boutot was 5th with Luke Fineis in 9th. Bromante and Boutot were 7th and 8th in Final 1 with Michael Cruz 10th. Holden had two 5th place finishes in Yamaha Sportsman Final 1 and 2, Bromante and Boutot in 7th and 10th in both finals.
The Yamaha Rookie Sportsman class seen a lot of great runs by Comet Racing Engines drivers, Madison Campeau was 5th in the first final on her Birel Cadet with Comet KT100, Mark Fineis was 6th and Jeremy Fairbairn was 10th. Mark Fineis was 3rd in Final 2 after leading laps with Jeremy Fairbairn having a strong run to 6th after starting the final deep in the pack.
Brenden Baker traveled from California for his first ever WKA National. After a solid 4th place qualifying effort in Yamaha Junior, Brenden won the prefinal on a Comet KT100 and ART Grand Prix kart. Unfortunately starting on the front row for the final didn't last long when Brenden was knocked off track at the start of the final. Brendon went on to an 8th place finish with Kaden Harter in 10th.
Gresham Wagner was 5th in Komet Junior 1 on an Arrow X2 with Comet KPV with Davey Manthei Jr. also on the X2 in 6th. Wagner was 6th in Komet Final 2 with Manthei Jr. in 7th.
It was another successful weekend for Comet Racing Engines, thank you to all our customers for their loyalty and hard work. Comet Racing Engines will be back on the road for the first ever USPKS race at Mooresville Motorplex April 26th to the 28th.
3/30/13 - The Comet customer support trailer will be at the Kershaw Manufacturers Cup race starting Thursday April 4th. If you need any parts while you are at the race please stop by!
3/18/13 - Congratulations to Ashley Rogero for sweeping TaG Senior on Saturday at the Florida Winter Tour race in Ocala, Florida. Ashley moved up to TaG Senior for the last round of the FWT Formula weekend and driving her Tony Kart EVK with Comet Racing Engines Parilla Leopard she secured the pole, two heat wins (the second heat win was from the last row after an inverted start!) and won the final with a monster gap of 8 seconds at the checkered flag!
Ashley had an equally impressive Sunday going as well with a pole and heat win but a flat front tire with a 4 second lead in the final put an end to her day prematurely. It was an impressive Senior debut for Ashley and we are sure she's only getting started!

9/22/12 - Comet Racing Engines were on "home turf" for the sixth and final round of the 2012 WKA Manufacturers Cup season. With New Castle Motorsports Park only a 30 minute drive from Comet Racing Engines home base in Greenfield, Indiana, expectations were high going into the event and the weekend didn't disappoint!
Komet Senior Lite and Heavy has been very kind to Comet Racing Engines drivers Mason Chelootz and Jake Donald this season. Chelootz on his Top Kart had already clinched both championships at the previous race weekend so this weekend was all about winning the race! Jake Donald would continue his winning ways with the victory in both Komet Senior Lite and Heavy. Jake really ended the second half of the season strong in his first year of Senior racing and has established himself as a major threat for 2013.
Yamaha Junior Lite started out well for Comet Racing Engines with Kyle Kirkwood taking the pole on his Arrow X1-E. In the final Arrow driver Derek Dignan came out of the gate strong running in the top three the entire race. Derek has emerged as a top runner the last few nationals and it was a matter of when and not if he would get that first WKA National win. Derek made his move with one lap to go and crossed the stripe in the lead to claim his first WKA win and take home the Grand National Eagle! Fellow Comet Racing Engines driver and Indiana native Kyle Tilley was 3rd with Skylar Robinson 5th, Ashley Rogero 6th, Sam Cate 7th and pole sitter Kirkwood in 9th.
Zach Holden earned the pole for Komet Sportsman on his Arrow Sportsman chassis and Comet KPV. Holden went back and forth in the prefinal for the lead and ended up second which is where he would start for the final. Zach, who won the KPV Sportsman final last month at Norway would hold on to take his second win in the class in a row!
Parilla Leopard was a wild finish with the Top 3 coming together in the final corner which allowed Colton Ramsey with his Comet Leopard to take the victory! Jacob Donald was 4th on his Arrow X2 with Comet Leopard, Billy Lewis followed Donald across the line for 5th and Michael Goodyear in 8th.
Yamaha Supercan Lite was another wild race, Billy Lewis on Comet's new low-cost Eagle chassis led most of the final and was leading coming through the final corner before contact sent him and the other two leading karts wide which allowed the 4th place kart of Sam Beasley on his Arrow X2 with Comet Yamaha to take the victory! Colton Ramsey was 4th and Billy, after recovering from the contact, would cross the line in 6th. Sam and Billy were both running Patriot Two Disk clutches.
Lewis once again raced his way to the front of the pack in Yamaha Supercan Heavy and just like the Lite race the day before, Billy was in the lead on his US built Comet Eagle coming into the final corner. Unfortunately contact again sent him off the track and he crossed the line in 5th.
Yamaha Sportsman Final 1 was a good showing for Zach Holden on his Arrow Sportsman chassis and Comet KT100 taking second place and missing the victory by mere inches. Simon Sikes on his Arrow Junior kart would finish 10th.
Cadet Final 1 was a great result for local driver Michael Cruz who was shuffled late in the race back to 7th but clawed his way back through the pack to finish 3rd with his Comet K80 and Garrett Moran crossed the line in 9th.
Komet Junior Lite seen Ashley Rogero take the victory on her Tony Kart EVRR and Comet KPV but she was found to be 3 pounds light at the scales. Arrow X2 driver Kyle Kirkwood was 4th and Kyle Tilley was 8th. Komet Junior Heavy seen Ashley finish 5th, Derek Dignan 6th, Kyle Kirkwood 8th and local driver Sam Cate in 9th.
Another local driver, Mark Fineis, had his best qualifying result ever in the Yamaha Rookie Final 2 starting the prefinal in second. In the final Fineis would finish 10th and Madison Campeau 11th. The previous day seen Campeau finish 6th and Fineis in 10th with their Comet Yamaha's.
Tag Final 2 was a great race for Jacob Donald who took the win on his Arrow X2 with Comet Leopard engine but it was a short lived victory when Donald was disqualified for a broken rear bumper at the scales after the race. Donald finished 5th in TaG Final 1 the first day.
Yamaha Junior Heavy was a great race with local driver Sam Cate with his Comet Yamaha in the mix all day long starting out with a pole run! Cate would go on to win the prefinal which would put him first to start the final. After the dust had settled Ashley Rogero took the victory with Sam Cate finishing right on her bumper in 2nd and Derek Dignan in 6th with their Comet Yamahas. Ashley won using a Patriot Two Disk clutch.
That wraps up the 2012 WKA season for Comet Racing Engines. It was a great season with over 30 Final wins and numerous championships. Brandon Jenkins of Comet Racing Engines said "I'm really proud of the season we have had. All the hard work we put in on the shop side and all the hard work all of our customers have put in at the track has made the season a success." Brandon continued, "I'm looking forward to the break before Daytona so we can hit the dyno and test track hard and make 2013 even better!".

8/14/12 - The Comet Racing Engines team made the trip to north central Illinois for the next to last round of the 2012 WKA Manufacturers Cup at Concept Haulers Speedway. The weekend started out well with Mason Chelootz continuing his assault on the KPV Senior classes with a pole in KPV Heavy. Mason would go on to sweep the day taking the win in the prefinal and checking out by 3.7 seconds in the final to score his fifth win of the years in KPV Heavy after five rounds!
Mason would repeat his performance on Sunday in the KPV Lite class scoring the pole, prefinal win and another run away win in the final with a 5.1 second advantage at the checkered!
Ashley Rogero started tenth in the final for the Komet Junior Heavy class but was making moves and passes early to put herself into the lead on lap 11. Ashley proceeded to distance herself from the field and won the final with a 2.2 second gap on second place on her Tony Kart EVRR with Comet KPV engine.
After a struggle to find pace in qualifying, Zach Holden moved up well in the Komet Sportsman prefinal which put him 6th for the start of the final. The lead group had a gap on Zach after he made his way into 4th but Zach started laying down times that were faster than the lead pack and just past halfway Zach made it to the rear bumper of second place. On the last lap the action got crazy with Zach going two wide for second then moving under the leader in the last corner and winning the drag race to the line to take his 7th win of the season in the Sportsman category on his Arrow Junior and Comet KPV engine.
Derek Dignan has made big gains this season and took the prefinal win in Komet Junior Lite on his Arrow X1-E and Comet KPV. In the final it was all Comet Racing Engines with Arrow X2 driver Kyle Kirkwood winning the final with Derek Dignan in second and Ashley Rogero on her Comet KPV in third!
Yamaha Junior Heavy was another good run for Kyle Kirkwood winning the prefinal and the final on his Arrow X1-E and Comet KT100 with Derek Dignan in 5th.
Other good runs for Comet Racing Engines customers include Sam Beasley on the new Arrow X2 taking the Pole and Prefinal win in the TaG 1 class with his Comet Leopard. Unfortunately he wouldn't finish the final. Chuck Tate finished 4th in Final 1 and 5th in Final 2 in TaG Masters on his Arrow X1-CIK and Comet Leopard. Cadet 1 Final seen Zach Holden finish 6th on his Arrow Cadet with Comet K80 after starting the final in 21st! Giovanni Bromonte had a great run Cadet 1 with a second in qualifying and the Prefinal. Unfortunately he was helped off the track in the first corner of the Final for a DNF. Cadet Final 2 seen Kaden Harter with a great run to 7th after starting the Final in 20th. Luke Fineis ended up 8th with Justin Gordon in 9th all with Comet K80's.
Yamaha Rookie 1 seen a break out performance by Mark Fineis for a 4th place finish which is his first WKA National podium! Madison Campeau was 8th in the Yamaha Rookie 2 final which is her best finish of the season at the National level with her Comet KT100. Jimmy Clark on a borrowed Comet KT100 started 19th in the Yamaha Supercan Heavy class and crossed the line in 5th. Yamaha Sportsman 1 seen Harter with a 6th place finish and Holden in 9th. Holden ended up 5th in Yamaha Sportsman 2 with Justin Gordon in 8th and Simon Sikes in 10th.
Thanks to all our customers for yet another successful race weekend! The Comet Racing Engines team will "ride again" August 31st to September 2nd at NCMP for the Great Lakes Sprint Series in preparation for the final WKA National race of the year at NCMP September 14th-16th.
7/18/12 - On one of the hottest weekends any of us can remember at a race track, Comet Racing Engines customers overcame elements to score multiple WKA National wins, poles and podiums at MRP in South Bend, IN.
The weekend kicked off with Top Kart driver Mason Chelootz taking the pole in Komet Heavy with fellow Comet Racing Engines KPV driver Jacob Donald on his Arrow qualifying second to make it an all Comet KPV front row for the prefinal! Mason would continue his winning ways by taking a commanding victory in the final by 5.9 seconds over second place! Unfortunately Jacob had to retire early from the final. Mason is 4 for 4 in Komet Heavy final wins for the 2012 season!
This weekend also seen the return of multi-time WKA National Champion Sam Beasley! Sam put everyone on notice by taking the pole in both Parilla Leopard and TaG Final 1 on his All-New Arrow X2 chassis and Comet Racing Engines Leopard. Jacob Donald shared the front row with Sam on an identical Arrow X2 and Comet Leopard in the Parilla Leopard class. Unfortunately for Sam he lost a chain early in the prefinal in the Leopard class and would start from the rear for the final with Jacob Donald picking up the Prefinal win and pole for the final. Once the green flag flew for the final it was the "Sam and Jake Show"! As Jacob eased away from the field to a comfortable lead, Sam was slicing through the field picking up two or three spots a lap! As the checked flag flew Jacob took his first WKA National win as a senior with Sam finishing an amazing second after starting 28th in the final! Unfortunately Jakes win would be short lived as his seat was found to be 1/4" to low in post race tech handing his victory to Sam. It was a tough one to swallow after such a great run by Jake. Colton Ramsey was 5th with his Comet Racing Engines Leopard.
Sam was behind the eight ball once again in TaG Final 1 after another off track excursion put him last for the start of the final. Sam once again was slicing through the field and picking off karts left and right! When the dust settled Sam ended up 2nd with the races fast lap. Fellow Comet Leopard driver Colton Ramsey was third which is a career high finish in the TaG class for him and Kyle Smith with his Comet Leopard was 8th. In the TaG 2 Final on Sunday Sam would end up 4th.
Jacob Donald took the pole for the Komet Lite class on his Arrow X1-E and Comet KPV. Jacob would go on to win the Prefinal and the stage was set for a shot at redemption after Jake had his Parilla Leopard win taken away because of a seat infraction the day before. Jake had to fight hard in the Final with a three way battle for the win. Jacob took the lead coming down for the white flag with the racing fierce behind him. With only a few corners to go, second and third got together and went off course and gave Jake some breathing room for his second "first senior win" of the weekend! This time the seat was good and Jake officially took home his first WKA National senior winner's trophy!
Kyle Kirkwood ran fast time in qualifying for the Komet Jr Heavy class on his Arrow X2 and Comet KPV. In the final Kyle took the lead on the first lap to lead the race flag to flag to pick up the win! Ashley Rogero on her Comet KPV and Tony Kart EVRR was 4th and Derek Dignan on the Arrow had a great run to finish 6th. In Komet Jr. Lite Ashley would end up 3rd with Derek Dignan in 8th.
Zach Holden has had a great year in the Junior Sportsman classes but this weekend would be more a "character building weekend". Zach started on the outside of the front row in the Cadet Final 1 Prefinal on his Arrow Cadet and Comet K80 and would turn that starting spot into a prefinal win. Starting on the pole for the final Zach led a majority of the 16 lap final including the white flag lap. Coming down the front straight Holden ran the bottom with second and third on his tail. When they hit turn one, second place pushed Holden through the corner which opened up the bottom of the track and allowed multiple karts to sneak by. With only a few corners left in the race, Zach had little time to recover before finishing 5th. Kaden Harter with his Comet K80 was 9th.
The Komet Sportsman class was another tough day with Holden qualifying 3rd on his Arrow X1 Junior and Komet KPV. Zach was in second by lap two but got together with another kart mid corner which ripped the valve stem out of the tire and leading to an early end from the Prefinal. Zach lined up 20th for the final and got to work quickly picking up spots every lap, by the end of the 16 lap final Zach was 4th overall. Not a bad recovery but still disappointing knowing the kart and driver were capable of running with the leaders for the win.
Cadet Final 2 was another wild one. Zach made his way into the lead by the time the white flag flew in the prefinal but in a similar repeat to the Cadet final the day before, as Zach was approaching the hairpin for the final time he was center punched from behind hard enough that the rear bumper was cracked shoving him wide allowing multiple karts to go past. In the Final Zach marched his way back into the lead draft after having to recover some spots lost on the last lap of the prefinal, picking up the races fast lap along the way. As the lead trio received the white flag Zach was sitting third, in another questionable racing move the leader was nailed from behind and spun in Zach's path which forced Zach off track and into retirement. Fortunately the officials did penalize the driver for the move but the damage was done. Hopefully the officials will not tolerate the "punting for position" at the next race that was all too common this weekend in the Sportsman ranks. Kaden Harter finished a well deserving 4th in the Final with Simon Sikes on an Arrow Cadet in 5th.
Yamaha Junior Heavy seen another great run by Kyle Kirkwood on his Arrow X1-E and Comet KT100 finishing 2nd. Ashley Rogero finished 3rd on her Tony Kart EVRR in the Yamaha Jr Lite class with Kyle Kirkwood in 5th and Derek Dignan in 6th.
Yamaha Sportsman 1 had Zach Holden in 5th, Simon Sikes on his Arrow Junior in 7th and Kaden Harter in 10th. Yamaha Sportsman 2 seen Simon Sikes in 9th and Michael Cruz in 10th. All with Comet Racing Engines KT100's.
Chuck Tate finished 3rd in TaG Masters Final 1 on his Arrow X1-CIK and Comet Leopard. Other honorable mentions this weekend seen Jacob McWhirter with multiple top 10 qualifying runs in Junior Yamaha and KPV in his first year as a Junior on his Tony Kart EVRR. Madison Campeau started a career high fourth in Yamaha Rookie Sportsman 2 and posted a 9th place finish in Final 1.
Thanks to our great customers it was another successful WKA National Weekend! The Comet gang rolls to Norway, IL next for the Great Lakes Sprint Series on July 20th-22nd in preparation for the WKA National there August 3rd-5th.

5/10/12 - It was a great weekend for Comet Racing Engines as the team returned to the newly renamed Pittsburg Motorsports Complex for the third of five rounds of the 2012 WKA Manufacturers Cup series. With Comet Racing Engines customers scoring 7 wins at Kershaw in March and numerous podiums, anticipation was high for another strong showing and the weekend didn't disappoint.
Ashley Rogero continued her hot streak in the KPV Junior classes by claiming the pole in Komet Jr Heavy as she was joined by five fellow Comet Racing Engines in the top 10! Ashley would take the win in the final by a commanding 4.8 seconds on her Tony Kart EVRR, she was joined on the podium by three Comet Racing Engine KPV racers with Gresham Wagner in 3rd, Kyle Kirkwood on his Arrow X1-E in 4th and Jake Johnston in 5th. Skylar Robinson finished 10th after starting the final in the middle of the pack.
Komet Junior Lite seen Ashley Rogero start on the outside of the front row but contact in the final sent her off course and an early retirement from the race as Gresham Wagner finished 3rd for the second day in a row with brothers Garrett Johnson and Jake Johnston taking 5th and 7th. Skylar Robinson had a tough race but picked up Fast Time honors in the final.
Looking for vindication after a tough first two rounds in the Yamaha Junior class, Ashley Rogero put her Comet Racing Engines KT100 on the front row in Yamaha Junior Lite qualifying with Skylar Robinson on his Tony Kart EVRR qualifying 5th and Kyle Kirkwood in 6th. In a thrilling last lap battle in the Final, Ashley took the lead with only a couple corners remaining to bring home her first Yamaha Junior win of the season. Kyle Kirkwood on his Arrow X1-E was 5th, Gresham Wagner came home 6th and Skylar Robinson, after claiming a 3rd place finish in the prefinal and fast time finished 7th.
Looking for her second win in the Yamaha Junior class of the weekend, Ashley Rogero again qualified in the 2nd spot for Yamaha Junior Heavy missing the pole by a scant .034 seconds. In the Final it was evident from the first lap that something was wrong on the #17 of Rogero as she slid farther and farther back. At the front of the field fellow Comet Racing Engines racer Kyle Kirkwood was on a steady move through the field before catching the leader at halfway. Kyle was content to ride until the end of the race to go for the win but was unable to find a way past the leader for the victory. Kirkwood crossed the stripe in second with Skylar Robinson posting fast race lap and a solid 3rd place finish to join Kirkwood on the podium. Gresham Wagner finished 7th with Ashley Rogero in 11th. With a quick examination of Ashley's kart after the race a flat right rear tire was the culprit.
After claiming three wins at the Kershaw WKA National, Junior Sportsman driver Zach Holden was looking to add to his win total this season. The first race of the day was Cadet Final 1 and with Zach in contention the entire race it was down to a last lap shoot out for the victory. In a thrilling photo finish Holden on his Arrow Cadet with Comet Racing Engines K80 missed the top step of the podium by a mere .018 seconds! Following Zach across the line was Michael Cruz in 8th and Garrett Moran in 10th with their Comet Racing Engines K80's.
Zach Holden took the pole in Komet Sportsman and after an extremely tight race among the top 4 in the Komet Sportsman class it once again came down to a battle for the win on the last lap. With Holden leading the majority of the race he was a sitting duck with one to go as 2nd place went low and Garrett Moran in 3rd went high. As the top 3 went three wide into the first corner it was anyone's guess who would come out of there unscathed. Moran and Holden would lose some momentum on the outside as 4th place ducked under both of them to move to second. With only a lap to regroup it was Garrett Moran in 3rd and Holden in 4th with Michael Cruz crossing the line in 7th.
Garrett Moran had a strong run throughout the day in Yamaha Sportsman 1 qualifying in the second spot and finishing 3rd in the prefinal. In the Final, as was the norm for all Sportsman races this weekend, it all came down to the last lap. With Holden leading the entire final until the white flag it was another wheel to wheel fight for the win. With Holden coming off the last corner in second it wasn't looking real promising for the victory as Zach tried to use the draft to slingshot by the leader but with perfect timing Zach made his move and took a unlikely win by only .005 seconds at the line on his Arrow X1-Junior kart! Garrett Moran finished 7th and Kaden Harter in 10th.
Yamaha Sportsman 2 started out well with Zach Holden qualifying second and Simon Sikes on his Arrow Junior and Comet Racing Engines KT100 qualified in the 3rd position. The final was a nail biter as Holden was at the tail end of the top 4 for most of the race. With three laps remaining Holden made his move to take over the lead. After some jockeying for position Holden passed the white flag in 2nd and in dramatic fashion moved in first as they all raced side by side through the esses to take his second win of the weekend and 4th in a row in the Yamaha Sportsman category! All of Holden's Yamaha Sportsman wins are on a one disk Patriot clutch. Garrett Moran finished 7th only 1.6 seconds back from the lead pack.
Michael Cruz had a strong qualifying run in the Cadet 2 class with a second place starting spot. In the prefinal Zach Holden finished second with Michael Cruz in third and was positioned for another great run in the Final. Unfortunately coming to the green flag Holden's #2 machine came to a halt with a fuel pickup problem and never started the final. Simon Sikes on his Tony Kart Cadet and Comet Racing Engines K80 would go on to finish 6th after starting the final in 16th and front row qualifier Michael Cruz finished in 10th.
KPV Senior continues to be dominated by Mason Chelootz with his Comet Racing Engines KPV and Top Kart chassis. Mason took the pole in KPV Heavy and after a 4+ second win in the prefinal, Mason proceeded to win the 13 lap final by 6.9 seconds! Mason followed up his win on Saturday with a 2.4 second victory in KPV Lite. With two wins this weekend, Mason is 5 for 6 in KPV Senior win's this season!
Kyle Smith had a strong weekend in the TaG Category with his Comet Racing Engines Leopard. Kyle qualified on the front row in Parilla Leopard and proceeded to win the prefinal on Saturday and taking second in the Leopard final. Kyle also finished 3rd in the highly competitive TaG Final 1 with Jacob Donald on a Comet Leopard and Arrow X1-E in 5th. Kyle Smith took home 4th in TaG Final 2 on Sunday.
All of Comet Racing Engine's wins this weekend were using Avenger Extreme Castor Oil.
All in all it was a great weekend and we continue to thank our great customers for making it possible. The final count on the weekend for Comet Racing Engines was 9 front row qualifying spots, 3 poles, 6 wins, 14 top threes, 23 top 5's and 35 top 10's! We are already hard at work on the test track and dyno preparing for the 4th round in South Bend, Indiana on July 6th to 8th.

3/29/12 - It was a great weekend for Comet Racing Engine drivers at the second round of the WKA Manufacturers Cup Nationals at Carolina Motorsports Park with 7 wins and 4 poles over the course of the event.
Zach Holden led the way adding three wins to his 2012 total after earning his first WKA National win at Daytona. Zach has firmly established himself as a championship contender this year at the National level. Zach swept both Yamaha Sportsman Final 1 and Final 2 on his Arrow X1-Junior Kart with Comet KT100 engine and Patriot One disk clutch. Not content to just win in Yamaha, Zach won a thrilling Cadet Sportsman Final on Saturday on an Arrow Cadet kart with Comet K80 engine. Kaden Harter finished Cadet Sportsman on Saturday on the podium in 5th with a Comet K80 engine and 6th on Sunday with Simon Sikes on his new Tony Kart Cadet and Comet K-80 in 9th. Garrett Moran finished 6th in Yamaha Sportsman Final 1 with his Comet KT100 and Michael Cruz and Simon Sikes taking 8th and 10th in Yamaha Sportsman Final 2. Zach was 4th in the Komet Sportsman class with a Comet KPV and Arrow X1-Junior chassis and Garrett Moran with his Comet KPV in 6th.
Florida racer Ashley Rogero swept the weekend in the KPV Junior classes taking the pole, heat win and final win both days on her Tony Kart Racer EVRR and Comet KPV. Fellow Comet Racing Engines driver Kyle Kirkwood on his Arrow X1-E was second on track Saturday in KPV. Unfortunately Ashley's engine had a technical issue in tech with the older six hole clutch drum on the engine instead of the new three hole drum which took the win away from her and the win going to Kyle. Not to be deterred by a technical SNAFU, Ashley put it on the boys on Sunday and took the KPV race win by over 3 seconds! So much for that old style clutch drum having anything to do with Ashley's Saturday win.
Mason Chelootz swept both KPV Senior Finals with his Comet KPV engine. Mason also took the pole on Saturday in the KPV Heavy class with Jacob Donald on his Arrow X1-30 and Comet KPV claiming the other pole in KPV Light. Jacob also finished 2nd to Mason on Saturday and taking 3rd on Sunday in KPV. Mason is now 3 for 4 in KPV Final wins for the 2012 season with a Comet KPV.
Other strong runs over the weekend includes Skylar Robinson in the Yamaha Junior Light class with a 4th place on Saturday on his Tony Kart EVRR and Comet Racing Engine KT100 with Kyle Kirkwood in 6th on his Arrow X1-E. Kyle finished 2nd on Sunday in Yamaha Junior Heavy with his Comet KT100. Chuck Tate narrowly missed the pole Sunday in TaG Masters with his Comet Leopard and Arrow X1-CIK starting second. Chuck had a strong run in the final for a 3rd place finish.
This weekend was also the debut race for Comet's newly WKA approved oil, Avenger Extreme Castor. The new oil was used in all seven WKA National wins this weekend. The Avenger Extreme Castor Oil is a specially blended castor with synthetic oils for increased horsepower, no carbon build up and cooler engine running temperatures. It was a great way to debut this new product!
Congratulations to all our Comet Racing Engines customers on their great runs and finishes this weekend.

1/7/12 - The WKA Manufacturers Cup race at Daytona might have taken place at the end of 2011 but it's the unofficial start of the 2012 season! There was plenty of sun, hard racing and great finishes by Comet Racing Engines customers at Daytona!
A big congratulations to Zach Holden for winning his first WKA National in the Cadet Sportsman class with a Comet Comer K80 engine on an Arrow Cadet kart. Zach backed up his win with a pole and a second and third place finish in the Yamaha Sportsman and Komet Sportsman classes.
NASCAR star Jamie McMurray took the pole and the win in the TaG 2 Final with a Comet prepared Sonik engine. The coolest part was Jamie winning on a chassis that he personally built. That doesn't happen very often these days and is a great accomplishment!
Mason Chelootz won the Komet Heavy final on a Comet KPV engine with fellow Comet Racing Engines driver Jacob Donald in second on an Arrow X1-E. Jacob swept the pole in both Komet Senior races as well. Jacob finished it out with a second place in the Komet Light final.
Other strong runs were put in by Ashley Rogero with a second and a third in the Komet Junior finals with a Comet KPV and Tony Kart EVRR chassis with Gresham Wagner earning the pole in Komet Junior Heavy with his Comet KPV. Michael Cruz finished a strong 4th in the Yamaha Sportsman Lite final with a Comet KT100. Trenton Tucker, Kaden Harter, Jacob Knueven, Kyle Smith, Chuck Tate and Mark Fineis all had podium finishes as well at Daytona. 9/24/11 - The last race of the 2011 WKA Manufacturers Cup series took place at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana with the prestigious Grand Nationals taking place on the one mile road course. It was another very successful event for Comet Kart Sales and Comet Racing Engines with five wins over the weekend and numerous podium events by our customers!
Ashley Rogero led the way taking 3 of the 4 class wins in the Junior classes including sweeping the KPV Junior classes with her Comet KPV 100! Congratulations to Ashley, she has definitely came into her own the second half of this year and her near sweep of the Junior classes at NCMP is a definite sign that she will be a force to be reckoned with in the Junior classes next season!
Another break through performance was local KRA racer Garrett Moran winning his first ever WKA National in the Yamaha Sportsman Heavy class with his Comet Blueprinted KT100! Garrett was followed across the line in 2nd by Zach Holden on his Arrow Sportsman kart with Comet KT100 power and fellow Comet KT100 drivers Jordan Delphia in 4th and Jacob McWhirter in 5th. Comet engines took 4 of the top 5 spots and 6 of the top 10! Great job guys!
Colton Ramsey won in a thrilling Yamaha Supercan Lite race with his Comet KT100 with fellow Comet KT100 driver Sam Beasley on the Arrow X1-E chassis in 2nd and Colton's teammate Jimmy Clark in 3rd making it a clean sweep of the top 3 by Comet KT100 drivers!

7/16/11 - It was a very successful WKA Manufacturers Cup weekend for Comet Racing Engines at the Beaverun Motorsports Complex in Pennsylvania. Comet Racing Engine drivers took home 6 wins and 7 poles and multiple podiums during the three day show.
Congratulations to Ashley Rogero for winning her first WKA National as a Junior! Ashley moved up from the Sportsman classes after a very successful 2010 season. Ashley led the Junior KPV Lite final from flag to flag after qualifying pole earlier in the day! Jacob Donald added to his 2011 win total with a pole and final victory in Yamaha Junior Heavy on a Beasley Motorsports prepared XE-28 with Comet Tuned KT100.
Sam Beasley continued his assault on the senior classes in his first year out of the junior ranks with 4 wins at Beaverun. Sam won in the Parilla Leopard class on a Comet Leopard and Beasley Motorsports prepared Arrow X1-E chassis. Comet's own Mark Dismore Sr. mixed it up with the kids to take 4th in the Parilla Leopard final on a Comet Leopard Arrow X1-E. Kyle Smith was on the pole in the Parilla Leopard class with his Comet Leopard and finished on the podium in 3rd to put three Comet Leopards in the top 5! Sam also took the victory in both Senior KPV classes continuing his domination in the KPV senior classes, as well as putting a Comet Leopard on the top step of the podium in the always competitive TaG Final 1 with Kyle Smith in second with his Comet Leopard. On Sunday Sam finished 2nd in TaG Final 2 on his Arrow X1-E with Arie Ouimet in 3rd on a Comet Racing Engine Leopard under the CRG America tent.
Other Comet Racing Engines podium finishers include Kyle Tilley who also took a prefinal win and pole over the weekend, Kaden Harter in the Cadet class, Luke Fineis with a great 2nd place drive in Rookie Sportsman, Austin Self in Yamaha Junior Heasvy, Chuck Tate in TaG Masters and Skylar Robinson in Yamaha Junior Heavy. There were some great runs that didn't end as they should of including Jacob Zellner pushing Kyle Tilley from over 3 seconds back in the Yamaha Sportsman Lite final to catch the top three with 2 laps to go. Unfortunately in the mania going for the win Jacob suffered a lost chain and Kyle received a cut tire, it was still exciting to see the two young Comet engine drivers run down the top three. It was an exciting weekend and congratulations and thanks to all our great customers!
